I was 9 years old. I remember the excitement leading up to it. As I have sat around today with little energy, I have thought back to 1976 a few times, wishing I had the excitement and buzz of that day. I remember spending a lot of time with my Brother that day. We too watched a lot of the festivities on TV. I vividly remember the boat parade in NY Harbor. I remember hearing (Because my Brother played the radio a lot that day) Starland Vocal Band's "Afternoon Delight" about 5-6 times that day. Being only 9, I thought that song was about lighting bottle rockets in the afternoon! LOL We did burgers on the grill about this very time of the day. It could not get dark soon enough to light off our THREE packs of bottle rockets! WHOOOA!! LOL But yeah....Been thinking about that day and missing those times and my family.
