My Dad was from Myrtle Beach so I have visited both several times. I LOVE the "Low Country" of South Carolina. Ironically, the drive towards Paris Island is one of the best in the State. Coming through Jacksonville, I would take 295 and circle West of town. That is USUALLY the smoothest sailing to get South of Jacksonville. You will also get to cross the 3.1 mile Buckman Bridge across the St Johns River. There's not much to driving through Jacksonville, on I-95 except traffic. I WILL say the view on the Fuller Warren bridge, crossing the St Johns on I-95, has a GREAT view of our Downtown. You can also catch a glimpse of Ever Bank Field, where the Jags play.
