BUT, that thumbs down is on ME..... geez but I hate hearing loss.
The movie was great.... and I agree that it's not as good as Grand Prix. Must see in imax.
So about my thumbs down on ME... I could NOT understand the dialog. Pretty sure I figured most of it out because I know a lot about racing so I could 'translate' the viewable action to 'probably' what they were saying. Even with the more technical 'strategy' discussions. But not all of it... I will definitely be renting it when it comes out so I can read the captions.
I took 3 grandsons... 1 had problems like I did... no where near at bad as me but he struggled a little. The other two had no problems. For me I think it may have been how much 'bass' they used on the dialog.... that in combination with the background noise (extremely loud but I LOVED it) made the dialog a 'blur'.
I was thrilled that my grandson's loved it..... they are not big race fans unless we're live at the track. Just like horse racing.... live at the track my grandson's are fanatics - - but on TV they wouldn't watch if you paid them. Well.... depending on how much you paid them.

Back to the movie - AND PERHAPS SPOILERS... so if you haven't seen the movie skip this:
I really liked that they didn't 'overdo' the 'accident' part of racing... .that was my big fear - that they would be so into showing wrecks, (due to the newer CGI abilities), that they'd lose the 'art' of facing and the human element.... they didn't! I thought they did it perfectly.... WHICH, IMHO, made the accidents even MORE horrific.
I was already very aware of how 'technical' driving an F1 car would be but the movie REALLY brought that home. Major Thumbs Up!
All in all a GREAT movie going experience and I'm just going to have to learn to live with my hearing problem. - JamesJM
