It's sad but sorta cool to see the old road side Motels, along Hwy 301 and Hwy 17. Some are still open. Down towards Starke, Florida...halfway to Gainesville, there's actually a couple that are still quite nice. Seeing them, I think back to what they were like in their heydays. In my youth, we stayed at Holiday Inns and Ramada Inns....They all had the same look...Two stories with outside entrances. Nothing like laying down and seeing shadows of people walking by. And they had those TURBO AC units that I actually loved. Makes me miss my Mom, Dad and Brother.
