June 1984, we were visiting my Aunt n Uncle, in Myrtle Beach S.C. We were watching the Lakers play the Celtics. I was a BIG BIG time Lakers fan. My Dad and Aunt were pulling for Boston. My Aunt played College Basketball back in the early / mid 1950s. Anyway....Lakers were struggling and throughout the game, my Dad kept elbowing me and saying...."That's my man Bird!" I was stewing. Dad knew it. My Aunt would just sorta smile. THEN IT HAPPENED!! McHale clotheslined Rambis. I was BOILING! Dad had a sh** eating grin. As it was apparent the Celtics were going to win, I looked at my Dad and growled...That was BULLSH**! Whoooooa! Dad's demeanor changed! He barks......Watch your tone! Then Aunt Mary comes to my rescue. She INSTANTLY snaps at my Dad......You watch YOUR tone, Billy! You have been antagonizing him all night, trying to get a reaction. Well?? You got one! Suck it up! I ALMOST gave my Aunt a high five! LOL
Later, Dad and I would laugh about that night.
