Recently I watched a movie recommended to me by our foreign exchange student, who just visited us. Yes... it was a Japanese film. The film, (not going to mention it here), is considered by film makers from around the world as one of the greatest films ever made. AND - I had never heard of it until our foreign exchange student told me about it. I was stunned that the film had escaped my attention. What an incredible find.... and it got me to thinking:
your favorite foreign film? Now I think we should skip the Spaghetti Westerns even though they ARE foreign made.... not much 'foreign' about the content, however.
Here's five that immediately came to my mind... in no particular order:
1. Cinema Paradiso
2. The Seven Samurai
3. Downfall
4. Amelie
5. Diabolique
About Diabolique.... I am sure I spotted something in this film VERY intriguing but cannot find a single person on the internet who mentions it. I even asked a few family members to watch it and then let me know if they spotted anything rather 'shocking' but none of them ever watched the film.

P.S. Just to note: Yes, IF I included the Spaghetti Westerns at least two would be on my list.
