Was the most fun job I've ever had.. back in the day, record store personel were almost celebrities, at least in our town.. I always made killer deals and gave discounts to people that remember them to this day.. I was in charge if the Import section, which was the coolest section ever.. bands like Metallica and , my favorite, Wrathchild UK, started out as imports, due to the labels they were on..
I'd crank the living snot out of the in store stereo system and learned how to initiate buying sprees depending on what I'd play.. You could "feel" the energy in the room and immediately I'd put on any number of specific tracks that would send people into a buying frenzy.. I think the most successful track was "Come on feel the noize" the Quiet Riot remake of the old Slade song.. made TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars off playing that song..
I miss it so much.. We have a used record store now in town.. I sold all my brothers LPs to them.. they have been chomping at the bit to buy my old LPs, which are mostly 80s metal and some 70s...
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
