If so, can you please tell me what the advantages are in having one over the regular $50 programmable types (i.e. one setting for "cool" and one for "heat" )?

I mean...I will acknowledge that: A) they look sleeker; and, B ) the ability to control them from your smart phone is helpful in those occasions where you forget to turn off the thermostat when going away for the weekend/vacation.

But has anyone experienced any energy savings from having one of these $250 devices over their $50 "dumb" competitors?
