My sister choreographed a production of "Bruno". Bruno's my Dad... he passed away in 2005. It brought the house down. And I openly wept.
I think this was the 45th year her studio has taken part in this competition... although it has changed 'names' in that time, both the competition and her studio.
This competition has a special significance for my family - not just because it's my sister's dance studio. I have 6 grandson's and 1 granddaughter. My grandsons, all of them, play football, basketball, baseball, run track, play tennis.... the accolades just keep on a'coming.... one after another. But my granddaughter... she dances. She plays no sports, no interest in it.
So when this competition takes place, (plus another 2 or 3 during the year), we ALL show up... and my 6 grandson's surround her with admiration and praise.... and her heart melts.
She attends every single sporting event her brothers and cousins participate in... never misses ANY unless there is a conflict. When she dances her brothers and cousins, (my grandsons), never miss. It's her moment in the spotlight... and she's treated like royalty. - JamesJM
