..as in air conditioning - preferably cars.
Regarding my '80 Spider.. Was converted to R-134a years ago.. took 3-4 years for the freon to all leak out, but leaked out after one year this last time.. As we were putting the freon in, realized someone had put dye in the system to find the leak, as it was transferred to the gauges we use in putting in freon..
I realized the dye was fluorescent and I have a mess of black lights so I shined a black light on the AC unit (compressor etc) and nothing lit up EXCEPt for where the high pressure Schrader Valve connects to the compressor.. that area was DRENCHED in fluorescent dye.. I tried to shoot a pic, but tough to shoot a pic in total darkness with a black light while not using a flash..
Anyways, my question: is this area, where the high pressure Schrader Valve connects to the compressor, an area that can leak freon, or do I need to keep looking? If I need to keep looking, what other areas have people here found freon leaks? I did just order a "sniffer" gadget to try and sniff out the leak, but it hasn't gotten here yet.. This isn't the best photo and doesn't show how drenched that area is..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
