But I don't really recall the answers.. I know there's a way to determine between copper/brass.. I think brass is non-magnetic while copper is supposed to repel magnets - like another magnet - pushes it away.. not sure how accurate that sort of test would be, tho..
I think you can clean either by soaking it in Coca Cola for a while.. I've seen a whole lot of ways to clean either: Mix together 1/2 cup of vinegar, a teaspoon of salt, and a sprinkling of flour until it forms a paste. Spread the mixture on the brass and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Rinse with cool water and dry.. Lemon, possible ketchup.. you might look that up - there is no shortage of ways to clean it.. I probably would try Coke first, tho.. I've seen drummers clean cymbals with Coke.. Jimmy, you ever do that?
