took the attacking dog that day.. Animal Control, police, and ambulances were there.. I heard the backyard looked like a Charles Manson party, but they had cleaned it all up before I got their to help bury the dog..
I think, but am not sure, that its almost mandatory to euthanize a dog that attacks a human and causes that much human physical injury.. I think I mentioned they are waiting to see if the owner produces rabies shot paperwork.. if not, they would need to monitor the dog for a few days.. I would think they would have provided it by now if they had it..
From what I understand, the dog was not on a leash, which means the owner could be in big trouble and legally liable.. I don't know what the plans are, in that regard, but I think it would be a strong case for owner liability.. So far, the dog owner has not tried to make amends or anything.. She did turn the dog over to Animal Control that day and, from what I understand, was crying when she handed him over. I'm sure they had no problems with the dog and probably were as surprised as everyone else was that he acted the way he did..
I love dogs.. I don't want harm to come to any dog and I honestly think bad dog behaviour is due to a human, ultimately.. I would honestly be surprised if the dog was not euthanized.. I am, of course, torn by that, because I love dogs so much, but I know deep down it's what needs to happen.. that dog is just too much of a threat to other dogs and humans.. I'll keep ya'll updated as I hear of stuff..
