I used to love heights, but now terrified of them.. like you said, walking up to cliff ledge and looking down makes me so dizzy I DO fear that I would get off-balance and fall..
Somehow my wife talked me into repelling down the cliffs at Cayman Brac 4-5 years ago.. Wasn't that big a deal.. I thought we'd drive to the top, hook up to safety equipment and go backwards over the edge.... BUT NOOOOOOOOOOO.. we started at the bottom, on total lava rock, and had to CLIMB up the sheer vertical wall, wearing a harness, but the harness was NOT attacked to any safety lines.. if you slipped or the rock you were clinging to like velcro broke, you were dead..
Once I got to the level where the safety lines were, the guide made me push myself away from the sheer vertical cliff wall (again - with no safety line) so she could hook up the safety line.. Every fiber in my body said don't push away from the wall, but I had to or I'd still be there.. Eventually she got it hooked up and I repelled down.. Never again..
Me repelling down the cliff.. Had to climb up that wall with no safety lines...
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
