back in the day, not that long ago actually... pre-VHS.... "The Wizard of Oz" was a yearly network TV event... and it was BIG. We looked forward to it like people today look forward to Christmas, or the 4th of July, or Easter.
As a kid I watched it from 3' in front of the TV while my Mom screamed at me that I would go blind and spend my life walking with a cane to find my way around the house. - JamesJM
If my recall is correct it was usually aired early Sunday evening.
I rarely miss a chance to watch it.
