Sorry to hear this. A diagnosis of cancer of any type is always disconcerting and worrisome. I smoked for 47 years and finally stopped for good on 8/8/20. I haven't had a puff since. But my pulmonologist saw something suspicious in a chest/abdomen scan and until they took the time to investigate it further, I was a nervous wreck. It turned out to not be anything serious and I felt like I dodged a bullet.. My dad had been a smoker over 40 years before he finally kicked the habit. I'm pretty sure he smoked about 2 packs a day. He was diagnosed with lung cancer 22 years after he quit smoking and ended up with COPD and on oxygen the last couple years of his life. He passed away from lung cancer at age 83. Depending on what stage of cancer she has, the news isn't necessarily all doom and gloom. There are treatments available today that didn't exist 10 years ago. Frank has a workout friend, an elderly gentleman who's wife has had stage 4 lung cancer for a couple of years and she's doing pretty well. So.... there's hope!
Fingers crossed that you will both get through this and that you've got a good team of doctors who will give her the best care. Keep us posted as we care about you and will be praying for you both.
