I get worked up when I talk about people dying in caves because its so easy not to die in a cave.. tourists are stupid, divers are stupid PLUS they usually are cocky and arrogant to boot.. Talking to our dive guide he tells us how he finds the bodies.. usually with their fingernails ripped off because they're clawing at the cave roof.. Its so unnecessary..
The last group told us about made multiple mistakes.. newlywed's decided to try cave diving with no experience or equipment.. generally you take a reel or 2, lotsa cookies (directional markers) two flashlights, and at LEAST an extra tank.. they had none of that.. they had been ocean diving all day, went into the cave system around 5pm, right before it started getting dark.. it got dark, they got lost, they both died in the cave on their honeymoon.. There was still a big wreath at the mouth of the cave in remembrance of them..
