When we went several years ago it was in November and we were the only boat at this location. I understand that during the busy months (Aug.-Feb) there can be up to 9 boats at any one time.
In many ways I'm glad for the ban. As this article points out the cage can actually do harm to the sharks. We did have one incident where a big female got caught up in the lines that tether the cages to the boat. The other danger is that there are plenty of free divers spearfishing for the big tunas in the area. Be chumming up the great whites the sharks now associate humans with food-not a good thing for divers.
