The article talked about how you usually don't see games like this in the first game or two of a season. But both teams were out for blood. Both teams are physical, nasty, like to beat on you, and can take a punch and give one. Not dirty. Just violent.
Adams said he was surprised at how hard hitting and physical it was. Fiske even said the same but that it was probably good to start out the year this way. I agree. This was almost a playoff intensity game with two teams built to dominate you physically. Neither side backed off.
The Rams got into serious football mode fast. No easing their way into the season. And, they came out on top. What more could we ask? That Avila and Parkinson got hurt, but apparently nothing they can't overcome in a week or 2, and everyone else survived, is really good in games like this. This reminds me of the kinds of games we saw when the Steelers and the Raiders of old went against each other. Or the Bears and Giants of yesteryear. Everybody comes out bruised, bloody, something pointing in a direction it ought not to, a few stitches, and lots of big smiles. Often with some teeth missing.
