But I understand the rationale of why we (and many other teams) play it.
And even more than understanding the rationale, I have to acknowledge that it was pretty damn effective (in terms of limiting the opposition's ppg) for most of the season.
But what has yet to be fully explained to me, is McSnead's handling of the Edge position heading into the season.
Although the bag of money the Bills ultimately gave Von Miller was larger than ours, it's not like our bag was insignificant. Yes, part of the reason why we offered VM so much was because he's a great player at a significant position of need. But another reason had to be that we
KNEW we had no other viable options in-house at that significant position of need.
So, I'm left wondering how (after losing out on VM) we: A) pivoted so quickly to move on an offensive player (not in a position of need); and, B ) seemingly ignore the defensive position of need for the rest of the off-season. I mean...they
KNEW what they had in-house wasn't going to cut it. It's hard to believe that they just assumed that another good/very good Edge player would be available at the trade deadline and that we'd be the only team that could capitalize on it.
I just wonder what their thinking was.
