I agree. I think a strong run game is like a good jab in boxing. It sets up everything else. But some people (like Mcvay) see the jab as a necessity just for keeping the opponent honest. So I don't think we'll ever have a dominant run game. But if Akers is at 20 touches a game it would be a great compliment to Kupp and Stafford.

Truly, this diseased BS mantra that McVay is basically pass happy is sooooo annoying. He will call whatever will give his players what he believes is the best opportunity to succeed based on their performance and the threats that exist on the other side of the line. He has repeatedly run the ball on early downs this year even when the line couldn't open holes. He didn't abandon the run in the Super Bowl even though the Bengals loaded up against it. Please, show this man the respect of knowing how his scheme works before spouting inaccuracies that become narratives people believe without actual knowledge.
