This year has been a disappointment but the future for next season still looks bright.
On offense we need a RB & TE and the draft is good on both of these positions.
We have a good QB, good WR corp, and a decent backup RB. The offensive line should be healthy and if healthy it should be decent.
Defense: The line depth got to play & has looked pretty good. Lets hope they find a way to keep Gaines. I think we will continue to look for an edge guy and it looks like we will go with youth at safety and CB but at least they all have at least a year of experience. Overall I expect the defense to be okay, good but not great.
If healthy it is certainly not a big stretch to see this team as a playoff contender next season. I expect we might lose Morris to a head coaching job and perhaps Henderson to a DC unless we promote him to take over for Morris. We need a new RB coach and a new OC. McVay and new OC really need to figure things out. This offense was too predictable and underperformed at a level that can't all be blamed on the offensive line injury woes.
Let's hope we see some of the young guys step up to close out the season. Getting a good look at the young guys will provide more certainly regarding next season depth and potential for starters. It will also give the coaches a great amount of knowledge for developing the young guys going forward and a better understanding of prioritizing our needs for next season.
It time to start looking ahead as the picture is not bleak for next season. This season has been over for weeks and it is time to get a head start at looking at the young guys who will be key next season.
