Mayfield is a 3 game rental and will not sign with the Rams after the season ends. Mayfield was a disaster yesterday...even Perkins had better QBR in the Kansas City game.
Instead of developing Perkins and letting him play in the next 3 meaningless games....a guy in your system for the last 3 years... you keep starting a guy who will most likely not sign with the Rams next year....really smart.
Predicting that Mayfield is going to suck in the next 3 games....
Don’t know where to start, 48.
First, nobody knows how BM will play in final 3 games. Could go in any direction depending on OL and how McVay wants to call the games. We’re down to starting our #3-5WR’s, and our OL is playing 3rd-5th stringers except for Hav. Ram coaches will have to factor all that in in their evals.
Second, I think McVay is done with both Wolford and Perkins because he’s seen enough to know that neither is good enough to even be backups. So I advise you to give up on your Perkins dream because it’s now a mere fantasy, no matter how the BM situation works itself out.
Worst case scenario might be that BM signs elsewhere and Rams are awarded a decent comp pick, say a 5th? Could be higher depending on BM’s new contract. He IS a QB, after all.
Best case is BM signs a decent contract to be Rams backup QB for a year while we all see how Stafford’s health sorts itself out.
Rams can’t lose no matter what. It’s called a ‘free roll’.
