....with the knowledge that the Rams O probably isn't going to be able to run out the clock at the end of games, with a lead, wouldn't it be worthwhile to at least attempt to confuse the opponents offense by mixing up coverages, and at least try to slow them down and burn more time?
I'm not a defensive strategist by any means, but mixing things up does seem to be a strategy that's legitimate.
As for Morris and the Super Bowl trophy...he should thank McVay and those HOF'ers EVERY day of his life because without them he isn't even getting close enough to sniff the Lombardi.
I think it should be the other way around.
If it wasn't for Morris and his defense, I don't think that we even get to the Super Bowl last year (let alone win it).
Just to recap...
Things were all good in the Divisionals last year until Kupp and Akers began to cough up the football and keep the defense on the field in poor field position. All of a sudden, we needed late-game drama.
Fast forward to the NFCCG game where the defense held the 49'ers to 17 points. We squeak by despite McVay calling a crappy game (the same crappy game he calls against the 49'ers) and Stafford throwing a pick in the endzone. And don't forget the heavenly intervention of Tartt dropping that duck Stafford floated in the 4th quarter.
In the Super Bowl, McVay wet the bed...again (remember 2018?). No offense to speak of from "the Boy Genius" - even against one of the worst rushing defenses in the league last year. Morris and the defense bailed him out (again) big time.
(LOL!) Morris thanking McVay for the Super Bowl trophy!

There is a reason he is the only coach under the McVay Tree to not be poached.
Well, you're right about that!
