John Hadl was a key member of the 1973 Rams, which, like the 1999 Rams, came out of nowhere to have a great season. According to the
power rankings, they were the strongest team in the NFL that year. The other keys to that team were Chuck Knox, Harold Jackson, Lawrence McCutcheon, Jim Bertelsen, Touchdown Tony Baker, Jack Youngblood, Fred Dryer, Larry Brooks, Isiah Robertson, and Merlin Olsen. The 37-31 win over the Cowboys was very sweet! They finished 12-2, and the two losses were by a total of 3 points. Hadl ended up helping the Rams fortunes throughout the rest of the 1970s after netting them a slew of high draft picks in a lopsided trade with the Packers.
Stevie Nicks got most of the attention with Fleetwood Mac, but Christine McVie was also incredible, and she did a lot for the group before Nicks arrived. I was quite pleased to see Nicks post that McVie was her "best friend in the whole world." I never knew much about the relationship between those two, even though I had read a book by Mick Fleetwood about the group. I met Mick on a cross-country flight shortly after reading his book. Amazingly, he was sitting in the coach section.
