about the potential of unleashing Martz on the NFL with no constraints, but both of them were not good over all talent evaluators, I applaud McVay for working with Goff then saying we can not win, and going all in with Stafford, but these other picks are head scratchers.
For the life of me, I do not understand how McVay does not understand his offense is unstoppable with a good running game, use your second pick for that
The Goff contract is what baffles me the most. We signed him a year earlier than we had to and then learned that McVay didn't think he could win with him. Certainly they would not have signed him if McVay didn't go to bat for him and say he was his guy. Seems like a huge miss to me. Gurley contract while a bad one was more the case of how fast his skills diminished and I give McVay a pass on that one.
Snead has McVay and all the coaches involved in the evaluation of draftable players and they have acquired a decent amount of serviceable players over the years through late round draft picks and UDFA. Sometimes filling a need seems to get them over excited and perhaps over drafting players. Tutu filled the need for speed but it looks like he is too small. And Logan Bruss hit on the Oline need and this year a bust. Even Rapp who they knew lacked speed has been mediocre but filled the safety need. Again coaches loved the guy and raved about his short areas quickness. They ignored his pass protection skills and his lack of size in stopping the run.
