It would be hard to rave about either draft class at this point ... BUT
Two starters (Akers and Fuller), a potential starter down the road (Anchrum), a #3 WR (which many consider a starting position on the Rams with the amount of 11 personnel they run), and a couple rotational pieces (Lewis and Hopkins) from the 2020 draft isn't bad at all.
As for 2021, Jones looks like a big time hit and Skowronek, for a 7th rounder, is a nice surprise. The jury is still out on Bobby Brown and Rochelle so the grade for this draft could improve over time. It would be nice if Harris and/or Brown IV turned into a contributor. And yes, we all agree that Creed over Tutu would have made this draft look a ton better.
I get your rationale, AlbaNY.
But I’ve set my bar a bit higher than that for Snead.
For example, Akers looks like a 2nd round bust. Another one, actually. Unaffordable in a draft lacking a 1st rounder. Fuller looked promising once upon a time as a 6th round starter, but what has he done lately other than get various injuries? Anchrum has ‘potential’ we’ve been told for 3-4 years now, but where’s the actual production? Lewis and Hopkins are poster boys for athleticism yet both have disappointed on the field. The Atwell pick speaks for itself. Nope, ‘20 was NOT a vintage year for Snead.
Let me put it this way. If a do-over draft for all of these ‘20 guys could be arranged, what coach or Ram fan wouldn’t jump all over it? They have proven to be on a scale of bust to mediocre players. And I do mean ALL of them.
I’m cutting Snead a mile of slack for the ‘Covid ‘21’ draft. Inadequate opportunity to properly evaluate as they normally do, so they went for impressive athlete measureables in hopes of getting lucky. But so far Jones is the only clear hit from that entire draft.
Hopefully, Snead/McVay (yeah, I’m holding McVay at least somewhat responsible for these results) figure this out and Snead makes appropriate adjustments in his scouting staff and/or evaluation protocols.
I’m kinda worried, tbh.
