The original question: "Who should be held accountable for Rams offensive struggles?"
The post I was responding to: "Les Snead and his terrible drafting"
And my response: "Personally I think that has a lot more to do with the drop-off from last year than thinking Snead's crappy drafting finally kicked in after 11 years ..." <in reference to 6 of the top 9 OL being injured>
In the Rams' SB years they started virtually the same OL every game. And I don't think it's a reach to think that if Boom, Edwards, Allen, Shelton, Bruss, and Anchrum remained healthy virtually this entire season that the Rams would be at least 5-3 rather than 3-5. And assuming that's true then I stand by my conclusion that the OL injuries are to blame for the Rams offensive struggles, not Snead's drafting.
That being said, I don't mind going off topic and answering your question as well.
Snead doesn't draft in a vacuum. To me it makes no sense to look at what Snead has done and speculate whether he did good or bad without analyzing whether he did better or worse than the other 31 teams.
Just to make up some numbers: 'Mystery GM' drafted 100 players and 10 of them became starters. Is that good or bad? Well, if the NFL average is 2 out of 100 then that's really good. If the NFL average is 25 out of 100 the 'Mystery GM' isn't cutting it.
Here's the NFL reality as an independent analysis shows: "NFL fans across the league are expecting their team to draft future Pro Bowlers, and Vikings’ fans are no different. But the reality is that drafting a Justin Jefferson is a 1% chance deal, and
the more likely outcome is that 9 of 10 draft picks will either be disappointing or have little impact for the team that drafts them. " [

Listed below is every draft pick Snead has ever made. There are 96 of them. I'd say around 39 of them made (or will likely make) a contribution to the team with another 6 (or 8 or 10) from the last few drafts TBD. (Please do you own count and post your results!)
That's a 40 to 50% hit rate.
Then when you add this:
"The Rams have selected 96 players in the NFL Draft under Snead with five receiving All-Pro honors, the second most drafted All-Pro selections since 2012." [
