We'll, you say that, but if Coop don't slide we might have had a first down. Or it might have been third and one. And they had been stuffing that play all day, but Kupp almost made it happen. Running the ball wasn't a zero sum gambit, that's just the story we tell ourselves now.
I firmly believe McVay was protecting the ball and there wasn't a chance in heck we were throwing it, even a screen (which we've all seen picked and run back this year).
And it was like I was telling my sons as it happened- we may not like it, but Coach is gonna play it safe. It's what he does, and he usually wins games because of it. He's gonna run, and then he's going to trust his defense. It should have worked, and it wouldn't be the first time we've won a game like this.
Y'all can question the play calls of that drive, but it's not changing until the coach does.
