IMPORTANT: A message from Jourdan…

Jourdan reached out to me today, and sends her regards to the herd board which she checks in on periodically. She said she feels there are lots of great Rams fans and great dialogue here.

The main message here is that Jourdan wants to clarify what she was trying to say regarding the Atwell situation and asked me to relate her message to the board.

In her words…

“I was talking about how there needs to be more people in the draft room functionally disagreeing (even if the HC loves the pick) if they don't feel like a player will pan out for whatever reason. I used the Atwell situation, where I've written and discussed in the past that it's hard to get him going in the game flow because he doesn't play special teams and can't help in the run game, so has to sub in and out, as an example of what that functional disagreement could look like if coaches are speaking up and also being heard. The post makes it seem like I am reporting hard news - if it were hard news, I would make that extremely clear that it were hard news. I saw that the thread has gotten a bit carried away (love love love the passion of this fan base) and I fear it has done so off of a faulty premise. The overall point is they need to be drafting and developing "imperfect" players in order to sustain their ecosystem, and if coaches don't believe they can do that with certain players in the first place, my *opinion* is that those voices should speak up/be heard. The Atwell pick, as things currently stand, is an illustration of this opinion and used as a hypothetical of what could have been said if they were having meaningful dialogue about the situation. I thought that was clear especially because I didn't use words like "sources said" or any indicators that I was reporting hard news, but I understand that I don't always communicate effectively on the podcast especially in the heat of the dialogue.”

She simply asked me to communicate the above note, to clear up any misinformation, as obviously she is rightfully proud of her integrity as a reporter.
