But don't the 8 yard cushions make it harder for our "rush" to get there? If teams are getting the ball out in 2.5 seconds like Jimmie G (and others) do against us (which is what the 8 yard cushions invite them to do) it doesn't matter who is rushing. They won't get there before the ball is out anyway.

I asked people to look at where the receiver is in relationship to the CBs when the QB hits his last step

Yes, the 5-6 yards "no cover zone" is vulnerable to quick throws...quick slants . . .
But the point that was made list night is tight cushions get beat and the Dolphins
gave up, can't remember 5-6-7 explosive plays , , , and lost.
Those quick slants won't kill you. NFL metrics tell you if you limit explosive
plays and win the turnover battle--you win a high percentage of the time.
Could the CBs play better? I am sure they can...but it starts with the rush
you can affect a QB without getting there. How many times are our interior
linemen batting passes? Gaines has no clue in pass rush, at least this year
gets out of his lane . . . .if you think it's a quick pass and you are getting
blocked at the LOS, get your hands up . . . Maybe they are doing it
but the rushers need to be tipping some balls
My guess is once the pass rush is up to snuff, the dbs can play
a little more aggressively in their individual coverages but
we are blitzing (5-man rush) too much.. then we are
covering with 6 rather that 7.
I hate to say it but the pass rush, other than Donald, sucks
