I believe his cover skills are deminished by how he is bing used on a weekly basis. The demand on him is higher than any other player on our defense.
How can I come to that conclusion?
There is no other player on our team playing out of position or being asked to play bigger than their size and then cover high caliber speedy WRs that are all sizes.
To be the best at what you do, you have to work on your trade. You spend time on what you perceive is your greatest challenge. Jalen can feel confident in his cover skills but he is spending more time not covering but tackling etc. The physical nature of the game and his hybrid role which he garnered since coming to LA is draining his game.
He's aging and can no longer play on an island vs the top wideouts in this league. He had some great games last year, like the Metcalf matchups, but many of the snaps required holds to get the result. He's very sneaky with his hold, very good at it. When we face Seattle he will be lined up on him again, given that he does well vs the bigger wideouts and has vs Metcalf, but Metcalf will probably work him over.
So scheme matters too and Raheem needs to avoid soloing him up vs the best guys. For this weekend vs Atlanta he should be ok solo vs their weapons. Their rook has some quicks to him but isn't ready to take him on just yet I'd think. And Pitts is a great matchup for Ramsey, because Ramsey suffers most with the guys who have speed and quick change of direction and Pitts is a bigger weapon he should do well on. But there are games ahead where Raheem needs to be smart with him.
