You don't think we can't win a Lombardi with Perkins but you do with the Wolf? I don't think either guy can do that for us.
have to concur with you Ramsdude.
and i'm not knocking either wolford or perkins. i do think wolford could hold down the fort for some games during the regular season if needed, not so sure about perkins ~ depends on who we're playing at the time and how long.
but the post season is a different beast. the intelligence level is at least an order of magnitude higher. again, not a knock on wolford or perkins as i guess there may not be even 2 teams this year that have a backup qb that can carry a team all the way through the post season.
i mean, over the entire superbowl era, and we've had 56 games, we have what, earl morral, jim plunkett, jeff hostetler, trent dilfer, nick foles and doug williams that have won sb's as a backup qb..
no disrespect to doug williams and jim plunkett. they were starting calibre qb's during their careers, but at the time they won they weren't (perhaps wrongly) considered so.
and along the same path, technically, tom brady, kurt warner and roger staubach were backup qb's when they won a sb but all 3 are clearly career starter,
hof calibre that i refuse to compare to wolford or perkins.
hostetler and dilfer each had a defense for the ages across from them. i don't remember but earl morral may have had that kind of defense in his 2nd, successful attempt at a sb but it did take him 2 tries.
so if you're gonna win a sb with a backup qb he needs to be a future hall of famer or you need to have an insanely great defense.
i'll go out on limb (lol) and say wolford and perkins will not make the hof. not sure where our defense comes in this season but i wouldn't count on them being as dominant as those giants or ravens team. hope they will but . . .
