Wolford is no Stafford but he CAN run the O that McVay prefers. He can go through more progressions. He can better read D’s.
He reportedly has a stronger arm this year and has taken a step forward this year.
I think Wolford is more likely to win a few games than Perkins if Stafford gets hurt.
Wolford CLEARLY is McVay’s choice for backup QB this year. That’s indisputable.
Perkins is a gifted scrambling QB, but is that what we’re looking for? Don’t be dazzled by the dramatic scrambling while ignoring the poor important fundamentals. That’s what I did last year but now I’ve wised up.
All good points but all the kudos you are giving to the Wolf is due to his "experience". You learn how to "read D's" and "go through progressions" with experience. Perkins can get better with experience too.
I agree with you that the Wolf has the Edge in experience and that he is McVay's choice.
IMO, Perkins has more "potential" than the Wolf and is the better athlete.
As we all know, if either guy ends up playing we are most likely not going to do well. lol And that is why I choose Perkins. If you're most likely going to lose anyway, why not keep a guy who might have a higher "ceiling" in the long run?
The Wolf has been here for a few years now and I think we know he isn't going to get much better. Can you say the same about Perkins? Could Perkins be even better than the Wolf is now? It's not guaranteed but I would take the gamble.
We have great coaches under McVay. I am not sure they can develop the Wolf any further but might be able to with Perkins.
Bottom line for me my friend is that I hope neither guy gets to play an NFL game for us any time soon!
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
