This is the first time in my 57 years the passing of a media person made me cry. His voice was such a part of the innocence of childhood that never grew old as the radiance of the game seemed to animate in my mind as he rambled on about things I never knew would interest me until I heard him tell the stories in such a calming manner that hours had passed and I realized, I enjoyed every damned minute of it. I'm literally losing my @#$%& right now. Baseball was a part of my connection with my Dad...and listening to VIN with him is too precious to not cherish. Thank you God for making Mr Scully.
What a lovely tribute, Leo.
You spoke for a lot of us with this post about Vinnie.
Few have ever connected with other human beings like he did…
Quick anecdotal story.
One of my neighbors has golfed with Vinnie several times. He said that Vinnie was always a class act and a genuine pleasure to be around. My neighbor treasured those moments with this legend.
