I still am trying to figure out he stopped Perine / Mixon? with one arm, and all the while he was being blocked by an OLineman. Those are professional and seasoned RBs, not some scrub just outta college. That's Superman like! One arm! Impossible! "Inconceivable!"
It was Perine.
A couple of things about that play:
1) I'm thinking that the 'gals were too clever by half on that play. Although Perine IS the better receiver of the two, Mixon CAN catch the ball out of the backfield. If the plan was to run the ball (but show a pass-catching capable RB ), I think that Mixon would've accomplished that. Not saying that he would've broken AD's arm tackle, but I think he would've been able to fall forward for the necessary yardage.
2) Although AD was primarily responsible for the stop, it's been pointed out by other posters that Gaines had gotten significant penetration in the backfield and caught Perine low (preventing him from advancing). It's hard to see from the replays, because GG had submarined his blocker.
3)
...all the while he was being blocked by an OLineman. (LOL!) If you want to call that a block...more power to you. To my eye, he simply stood his "blocker" up before dude (a much bigger player) even got a chance to block him! Unreal...it's like AD
knew that play was coming and he just needed to get this "bystander" to get out of his way so he could do his job (i.e. tackler the person who has the ball). Just a great...GREAT play. WHEN WE HAD TO HAVE IT!
