i agree it's a really is a tough call.
i would throw troy hill's hat into the ring along with the obvious wagner and robinson. i don't know if there's a consensus that we'd be just fine with rochell
and long aside ramsey, with this years draft picks backing them all up.
heck, bruss should should be in the conversation too. keeping stafford upright is pretty damned important.
i absolutely agree adding robinson alongside kupp does miraculous things for our offense on many levels. and for me, even more so than getting obj back. i can't wait to see it. but....
i'm going to part company with my highly esteemed fellow posters alyo and den on this one ~
i'll go with wagner. my thinking being is this :
1. wagner brings a league premier defensive signal caller. he's a proven leader. he knows the nfc west. he knows the nfc. he's learned plenty enough to deal with any afc team and has seen plenty of them. having this level of wisdom on the field is huge.
2. he is a league premier run stopper and i suspect he's in the process of spreading his wisdom to the the rest of the rams linebackers which they all need.
3. he can blitz. and blitz well. may not have been asked to do it a lot in seattle but he's legit. he can also allow e jones to blitz, who seems to have knack, providing him "air coverage" in run or pass support behind him.
4. he can cover kittle or tackle deboo samuel. jeez, can we use this. and in general he can pass coverage te's and rb's.
5. having donald and robinson in front of him. and gaines for that matter. when's the last time wagner had guys like that in front of him?
so with all that said, fitting what gigantic contributions i expect wagner brings to our defense, i do believe with donald in front of him and ramsey behind, that wagner propels us into a top 4, possibly a top 2, nfl defense in 2022. and i'm still old school ~ i think defense wins championships.....
