I don't think OBJ is responsible for the delay in his signing. IMO the Rams want to know when OBJ will be ready to play before they sign him and that's a big unknown at that point. I never thought he would sign before October anyway so I don't see any drama at all in the fact that he's still a FA.
i agree. not really sure about the timeline though. october seems a little long but could be. but i don't see drama either and i don't think the delay is in obj's court. i'm sure it's the rams being patient. and i think they should be, i'm good with that. i've seen previous rams fo be impatient too often. not this current fo so much.

It could well play out as you have suggested - that OBJ gets an offer he can't refuse elsewhere (much like Miller did). But I don't see any reason to think that OBJ remains unsigned simply because he's asking for too much money.
because of this, because the rams are now the team to chase, other teams are looking to pick them apart and leverage their assets i'm not counting on obj coming back. no fault of his own if another team comes along before the rams timeline with more money than he's looking for. he should take it depending on the circumstances and especially his own priorities. does he need another ring more than double the money. does he prefer to live in one place vs another. would he rather to play with certain team mates than others. that's all up to him.

As far as OBJ only being able to play a half a season (or maybe even less) I think OBJ would be inking a 3-year deal if he does sign with the Rams. So from that perspective the Rams might be satisfied getting whatever they can get from OBJ for some of the 2022 regular season plus playoffs, then build on that over the next couple years.
here's where i'm struggling. and that's because i'm not sure what their window is. they've paid donald and kupp after the sb. and after defensive player of the year awards and the triple crown. but donald already started talking about retirement and i can't blame him. so if donald does retire in a year or 2, who will make our defense championship caliber? how long will ramsey and wagner be around? a's rob? yes we have stafford, kupp and robinson on the offensive side but is that enough to dominate teams without a legit defense? can we put together a legit defense post donald? this is the meat of the discussion imo. and i think this , in large part determines what the rams can do with obj.
