There are a few ways to structure a deal for OBJ that pays him $7M for this season without generating s $7M cap hit.
Here's a way to do it as a 1 year, $7M deal with a $1.12M salary (the minimum for an 8 year vet) and a $5.88M signing bonus:
2022: $1.12M salary plus $1.176M prorated bonus = $2.296M cap hit
2023: 0 salary (void year) plus $1.176M prorated bonus = $1.176M cap hit
2024: 0 salary (void year) plus $1.176M prorated bonus = $1.176M cap hit
2025: 0 salary (void year) plus $1.176M prorated bonus = $1.176M cap hit
2026: 0 salary (void year) plus $1.176M prorated bonus = $1.176M cap hit
Beyond that the Rams have a number of players they could restructure if they just want to create more cap space and have all of OBJ's $7M count against this year's cap.
