Hey can play, or he can retire. If he retires, the Rams will move on without him. As SuperBowl Champs. And Donald will spoil what's left of his prime athletic years doing something else. God's speed.
This is the year AD's guaranteed money ran out, and that is what this is about. The Rams should guarantee the money in the final two years of the contract both parties agree to, a contract that made Donald the highest paid defensive player at the time. That would be fair. But Donald wants to jump the line again and be the highest paid defensive player again. I suspect the Rams are OK making this happen as well. The Rams have been very loyal to AD, saying as much that they risked a lot to try and get him a ring.
Everyone knows that he is not going to retire. The Rams know this, and so does Florio and everyone who writes about this over the next three months. In the end, a deal will get done but not before much gnashing of teeth and hand wringing. I am not going to sweat it at all. But I do think AD is going to tarnish his reputation with a minority of Rams' fans by intimating he is not being treated fairly by the Rams and pushing this BS about retiring.
