1. I agree that players should honor their contract but I also see that performance matters. Donald was already performing at a HOF level when he agreed to his last contract and was paid at that level. So I believe Donald either plays with his current contract or can walk.
2. If he walks, the Rams own his rights another few years. If he wants to play again at that time, Donald certainly wouldn't be able to get near the money that he would if he just kept playing.
3. The cap issue is huge. Teams can't just keep throwing money at big name players, except for high level QBs, and expect high level returns as players creep past 30. Donald may not entirely fit that mold, but I wouldn't offer anything more than a one time bonus at this point.
