We only got to see Tutu play in preseason games. He caught every ball thrown his way. He was playing with all reserves so he didn't have Kupp blocking for him down the field. McVay runs the most vanilla PS game plays I've ever seen. There were no stop and go's, no out and ups, no straight bombs, nothing. There were no ends rounds or quick slants either. There were no post plays or flag routes. He wasn't sent in motion.
There were no opportunities to shine. What he did well was run the simple route, catch the ball and secure it. I'm fine with all that. He was learning how to be a returner and struggled in the role and got hurt in that role. With Powell back there Tutu won't need to worry around returning.
He'll concentrate on improving as a WR speed threat in this system. McVay had some nice praise for the kid. Yes, it's flowery speech tine, but he did go into detail that Tutu is working hard to improve. That's all he can do at this time. So, while I agree he wasn't lighting up the scoreboard
In fake games, and it was a shame that he got hurt and how he did so, he should get an incomplete for last season. He didn't fail the Rams. The Rams won the Super Bowl. He is now being added to a championship team. And he does have talent. Speed kills and he's crazy fast.
I saw him running in the Rams practice live and he flies. The draft was the draft. He is on our team. We need to cheer him on. Not scapegoat him on a team that won it all anyway.
