Why did the Rams stop using Sony in the playoffs? I don't understand that decision.
I love Akers and he would easily be my top choice of backs last year if he was fully healthy and ready to go.
Sony clearly (in my opinion) was the Rams best running back last year when you factor in health, and ball security. He was steady and he piled up yards and wore teams down and he produced. I was disappointed in the coaching decision to bench him. I thought he should have been playing and with the way the Rams ground game struggled against the Bucs (fumbles) - Niners just stuffed them, Bengals again stuffed the ground game.
I get the Oline wasn't blocking all that well on the ground overall, but when Akers tried to fumble the game away in Tampa why not go to Sony? I mean to me he was the unsung hero of the Rams team last year and doesn't get enough credit for how good he actually was and how much he stepped up when the Rams needed him the most. The credit is deserved for Kupp and Stafford and Donald....but to me Sony was just solid and dependable and kinda got hosed when he should have been the lead back all the way through the season...to me he earned that.
