The player is protected by a contract without incentives. If the player is on the team for week 1 then they are guaranteed their salary for the year. An incentive based contract means they only get the money if they meet the incentives. This protects the team (don't have to pay if they do not do so), but it puts the player's money at risk.

Could easily be an 8 game base contract with bonuses (incentives) for various achievable goals for a WR of OBJ’s caliber.

This would be fair to both parties, don’t you think?
