Got a haircut today.... old fashioned Barber Shop in Fresno... one of few left in existence. 6 barber chairs... usually 4 barbers on duty. The barber shop is decorated in a sports theme... mostly local sport, Fresno St., but also pennants for all the NFL teams; old ones... still a Houston Oiler pennant hanging up there.
They know me... although I visit infrequently. They know I'm a RAM fans. They're a mix... Niners, Raiders, also a couple other teams, (Barbers and customers). The Barber that cuts my hair, (Niner fan) saw me walk in the door and said, "I knew I'd be seeing you"... he did so with a big grin on his face.... his comment insinuating I had come just to rub his noise in it... but in a very good natured manner. I had not gone to the barber shop to rub anyone's nose in it.
So we chatted about the Conference Championship game and I want to note that he, nor any of the customers listening in, even mentioned the dropped Int, OR the officiating... all of them more than congratulatory... Most were picking the Rams... 4 barbers and maybe 6 customers... 1 was picking the Bengals.
It was a good time... but mostly I just sat back absorbing it all, speaking little. Yeah, feeling lucky was part of it.... but mostly it was... I guess I'd say "appreciation".. Other than my immediate family and this board I don't have many to celebrate with regarding this year's accomplishment.... and that's ok. I prefer it that way, actually.
I'll watch the SB... at least to begin with... but if it gets tight, anxiety ridden, no doubt there will come a point when I depart home, find a canal bank and tune the game win on radio.
I'm having fun. - JamesJM
