I did but it wasn't pleasant. The story is my law firm represented an Italian restaurant that was being sold in Upland. The owner was a close friend of Georgia's husband Dominic Frontiere. Either he or Georgia or both decided to have a going away dinner party at the restaurant. No players-just management and coaches and of course Mr. and Mrs. Frontiere. One of the attorneys in our firm knew I was such a fan so they invited me to come along. That is where I met both John Robinson and John Shaw-at the bar. Both were very personable. Robinson wanted to talk about how big Cleveland Gary's legs were and Shaw wanted to talk about practicing law. After having a few drinks and seeing Barb in deep conversation with Jack Youngblood -with stars in her eyes I might add-I decided to wander over to where Georgia was sitting with her "troop". I made the mistake of sitting down on a sofa directly across from her. I wanted to talk about the reason and history of being a Ram fan-the loss of my dad in the way and the fact that my mom's boss was the statistician for the Rams and the fact that I had been privileged through him to walk into the Rams locker room and meet Bob Waterfield and others. BUT she cut me short with: "and who are you and why are you sitting there". That was it for me. Seeing Barb still engaged with Youngblood I walked back to the bar and continued talking to Robinson-who was really friendly and also Shaw. The one thing I remember is Shaw asking me a ton of questions. In the end he knew all about my wife and I and I knew nothing about him and his job. OTOH Robinson could talk about anything-he went on and on with me about signals in the card game of bridge-something I had just started.
End of story.
