Steve: I'm not sure what a "typical fan" is. I'm positive there are thousands of 49er fans that will pay that kind of money and I don't doubt they are "typical fans". In my neighborhood So Cal there are more Charger fans than Ram fans. Sprinkle in a huge Niner base along with Cowboy and Packer fans and I can't think of any that are not "typical fans". And yes those friends who are 49er fans will indeed spend that kind of money. So will Ram fans as well.
BTW: Gore doesn't have to buy tickets for Niner fans. IMO that's stupid. They are right here in So Cal and are willing to purchase those tickets just like Ram fans will. If your a "typical fan" you don't balance your checkbook before buying a ticket for this type of game. You worry about that after the game.
So to answer your q: It likely won't change. Outside of the late 40s, 50s and early 60s its always been that way. Just got home from the beach and on the way I saw two Cowboy license plate holders. No Rams'
I don't think there will be as many 49er fans as the last game mainly because those fans didn't know where the Niners would be playing until Saturday. My best bet is it will be 50-50 which is a lot better than last time.
BTW a guy on a surfboard earlier stole a wave from me and on the back of his wetsuit was a 49er emblem that looked like it had just been put on. Don't know where he's from but the waves are so small I'm sure he's a local.
