Comedy is a way of coping. It's a defense mechanism. It's how I deal with my own pain and I've offended those closest to me at times by what is perceived as inappropriate response to a given situation.

To me it's easy to not be offended because I view it from the intent of the speaker. Though we have never met, I believe I understand you, know your feelings about your son, your brother, your connection with sports as reservoir of fond family experiences. That at your very core you are a good dude.

So is the good dude trying to insult the people on this board?

That said, if we extend this understanding to the listener, I get too why some might be hurt or offended for the same reasons.

I think we all just need to cut each other some @#$%& slack.... until we our team suffers it's next loss then all bets are off!
