A different time.. Cromwell still has 'legend status' as a Rams DB but he dropped a pick 6 in that Super Bowl too.
With Ferragamo, he was/is revered I think because:
- he finally helped get them over the hump and into a Super Bowl after years of coming up just short
- he followed that up with being one of the top-3 QBs in the league in 1980.
- fans feel he would have kept them from collapsing in '81 when they has the worst collective single-season QB play (Haden and Pastorini) the franchise may have ever had to that point.
- he came back and bailed them out when Bert Jones only lasted 4 games in '82
- he had a solid 1983 season and helped them get back on track and in the playoffs
But after he fell off a cliff in 1984 I don't think anyone was arguing they shouldn't have moved on in 1985.
Good stuff 93! All good points. I will counter with...
-Goff got us to a SB too after 20 LOOONG years of sucking similar to Gamo.
-Goff was a top rated QB for a few years just like Gamo.
-Goff came back from a thumb injury (showing his toughness) to beat Shitattle when The Wolf wasn't able to play and got us one more game but our D pooped the bed.
-Goff had a good playoff record
If either one "hits" that wide open WR in the SB, they are forever Rams heros! Personally, I was a bigger Ferragamo fan than a Goff fan but I do recognize how much Goff did for us too so I can't hate on him too much and think he gets a "bad rap" sometimes. Maybe years from now that will change.
If Stafford doesn't win a playoff game, maybe that makes Goff look a little better.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
