1. Rams put 49ers in a SERIOUS bind by signing Stafford. That can’t be overstated. Practically checkmate. It has forced 49ers to make desperate moves. This Lance trade could potentially cripple 49ers for years. They were damned if they made a move and damned if they didn’t. A huge ripple effect working for the Rams. Look no further than the current trajectory of the 2 teams.
2. Wilson’s extended injury has confirmed what we all strongly suspected. Namely, that the Seahawks are just an average team without Wilson. And average ain’t nearly good enough in this NFC West.
3. The 49er FO is not holding it’s own at bringing in sufficient talent to compete in this division. Lynch is the GM so it has to largely fall on his shoulders, but I will say this. He hasn’t hired the caliber of scouts that Snead has. Snead’s guys have done a masterful job of identifying the exact player types that Snead/McVay ask them for. So, Snead will get the accolades but his real genius was in his scouting hires.
As to Wilson’s future? If I were a betting man I would lean toward Wilson asking for and receiving a trade to a team of his choice much like Stafford did. Hope it’s an AFC team.
