Re: PSA- double check your breaking news post, people

I do all my verifying and research on stuff at my desktop. I always double-check breaking news ... EXCEPT for the tweet last night ... because I wasn't at my desktop. I had retired for the night. I had taken my cellphone to bed with me around midnight and that's when I saw the notification come across my screen. I ALMOST got up and went back to my desktop so I could go through my normal verification steps (which I can't seem to manage doing on my cell phone) but since the announcement looked valid, I just took it that it was. And wouldn't you know it? The one time I don't double-check... it turns out to be false.

I won't get caught again... I'll tell you that.
